Heelys and Heeling is the newest, coolest way of getting around.
But in many respects, Heelys and Heeling are no different than any other wheeled
activity such as skateboarding, roller blading and cycling. There is always the
risk of injury when engaging in these activities and care should be taken to
ensure your safety.
Please remember that although using your Heelys skate
shoes is extremely enjoyable, there is a learning curve. Heelys is a sport and
it is important to learn how to heel safely and properly.
While using protective gear cannot guarantee your
safety, it could greatly reduce your chances of injury. We
therefore always recommend wearing Heelys protective gear when using
your heeling skates.
It is highly recommended to wear a Heelys
helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads when using your Heelys skate
shoes. Be sure to avoid cracks, and skate only on smooth, stable,
dry surfaces. Do NOT skate over rocks, sand, or water.
Heelys Protective Gear:
As with bikes or inline skates, wearing the right safety gear
and taking necessary precautions are very important. Safety has always been a
top priority for Heelys:
- Each pair of Heelys comes with written “how to” tips,
safety instructions, and proper protective gear recommendations. A video to demonstrate
the recommended steps for the safe use of heeling is available free of charge
at many participating retailers as well as on our web site.
- Heelys strongly encourages and sells safety equipment (helmets,
knee pads, wrist guards and elbow pads).
- Heelys recommends using safety equipment whenever wearing
Heelys with the wheels in.
- Heelys offers a 1-866-433-5464 number for any safety questions.
