How do I clean my shoes & wheels?

You can clean your shoes with soap and warm water. For wheels, you can use WD-40, but do NOT use water, as the bearings will rust.

WHEELS – Which wheel kit do I need to buy?

There are two factors that determine which replacement wheel is right for your Heelys: the style of the shoe, and the size of the shoe.

The first is the style of the shoe. The style name and number can be found on the inside tongue of your shoe. Some Heelys have Regular/Original Glide wheels, while others have FATS wheels, Mega wheels, Big Deuce wheels or Rocket/Rebel wheels.

Which Sole Saver kit do I need to buy if I have two wheels in my Heelys?

At this time, we do not manufacture Heel Plugs for the Rocket/Thunder Models.

What do I do if my wheels are “squeaky?”

Try cleaning your wheels with some WD-40; this usually solves the problem.

What happens if my wheel bracket becomes “worn out?”

The heel bracket that holds the wheel in the shoe is made of high-density polyurethane and was selected as a material because of its incredible “memory,” as it maintains its stiffness and characteristics under incredibly diverse conditions. It doesn’t stretch or bend out of shape and it does not react adversely to temperature changes. That being said, the heel bracket is NOT made to resist abrasion, which is one reason it is recessed from the outsole by 3-5mm. Once a consumer wears down the rubber surrounding the heel bracket to the level of the bracket, the bracket itself begins to abrade— which may be what happened in your case.

Please keep in mind that the outsole rubber that surrounds the opening in the heel is a high abrasion resistant rubber compound which will typically wear 8-10 X longer than an average outsole rubber. Once the bracket starts to wear, the axle recess in the bracket becomes smaller and smaller to the point where the axle does not have enough room to become sufficiently seated. If it gets to this point, then the shoes are no longer safe for Heeling. But you may still use your Heelys as regular shoes.

To help avoid the above, we have developed the “Sole Saver” heel plugs that are designed to help extend the life of the shoe by protecting the heel bracket when used in a walking mode.

How do I remove my wheels?

Follow the three simple steps to remove your wheels:

1. Hold the shoe upside down with the outside edge away from you. Position both thumbs (one on top of the other) against the side of the wheel and as close to the axle as you can.

2. Using your thumbs, push on the side of the wheel. Because axles are pressure fitted into the “axle arms” or if temperatures are low, wheel removal may be a bit difficult at first.

3. After the axle is partially out, turn the shoe around and with your thumbs, repeat the procedure by pushing against the other side of the wheel.

How do I insert my wheels back into the shoe?

Putting your wheels back in is easy! Just follow the three easy steps below:

1. Align the wheel in the “wheel well” and press the axle ends down as far as you can with your thumb.

2. Make a fist and hit the wheel with the bottom of your fist to fully seat it into both axle arms.

3. Visually inspect the wheel to make sure it is seated and after putting the shoes on, stomp each heel a couple of times to check for seating.

What does ABEC RATING mean?

ABEC is a rating system used by the bearing manufacturers. Usually the higher the rating (ABEC 1 vs. ABEC 3 vs. 5 vs. 7) the more precise and smooth the ride is. The ABEC rating does not, however, determine the speed of the wheel, and is in no way a measure of the quality of the wheel.

Are there any weight restrictions on Heelys?

While our product does not have any weight restrictions, we recommend that you try them out at one of our retailers before making a purchase.
